President-elect Donald Trump did not mince words when he warned Republican senators to not play nice with nominees from the Biden administration. And he’s right about that. We do not need to suddenly be cutting deals with those who sought to destroy our country. That’s ridiculous on every level. And since Trump is the incoming president that they’ll be serving under, it’s imperative they get on board with his agenda. We need to be united if we want to preserve America and get it back on track.

“To all Senate Republicans: NO DEAL WITH DEMOCRATS TO FAST TRACK NOMINATIONS AT THE END OF THIS CONGRESS,” Trump stated in a post on Truth Social. “I won the biggest mandate in 129 years. I will make my appointments of Very Qualified People in January when I am sworn in.”

A report published by The Hill said that the Senate, which will be required to confirm nominations at various levels, will often make deals at the end of a session in order to get nominations approved. Back in November, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer made a deal with the GOP to approve a total of nine federal district court judges. As part of the negotiations, four nominees who weren’t likely to be confirmed were set aside.

The deal set aside four nominees who were unlikely to be confirmed anyhow. To date, the Senate has confirmed 233 of Biden’s judicial nominees, which was the same number confirmed when Trump served his first term in office.

An effort by Senate Democrats to pass a law that might be used to block Trump’s civil service reforms was blocked Tuesday, according to The Hill. In his first term, Trump sought to implement reforms, but his term ended before they could be implemented. President Joe Biden wiped Trump’s efforts away in 2021, but Trump has said he will revisit the reforms. That led to Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia calling for unanimous consent to send a bill through the Senate that would block Trump from changing the federal bureaucracy.

Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri, a Republican, said no thanks.

“What we’ve seen in the last 100 years is the growth of an administrative state that isn’t accountable to anybody,” he went on to say. “There is no secret that President Trump ran on greater government efficiency and reducing the size of government. This is another effort to Trump-proof before Jan. 20,” Schmitt said.

We’ve done enough compromising over the years. If we really want to see this country healed from the wounds progressives left behind, we need to stick with the treatment regiment and not cave in and try to do deals with those who want nothing more than to see our beloved nation transformed into a socialistic nightmare.

Trump is simply expecting these senators to actually practice what they preach. If you say you are a conservative, that you hold to conservative principles, then act like it. Stand firm. Stand tall. Don’t back down.
