Actor Rainn Wilson, most widely known for playing Dwight Schrute on what is arguably the greatest and funniest sitcom of all time, The Office, ripped into “left-leaning” media publications and networks for their twisted coverage which ultimately led the public to lose trust in President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, all the while cheering on the Biden administration. Who would have thought this guy would be sticking up for the Trump administration?
Sure, his support is general and not indicative that he’s MAGA in any meaningful way, but still, he’s right in his take on the left-wing propaganda makers. Wilson commented on the state of the media during an interview with MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle on her “Soul Boom” podcast on Tuesday.
Wilson said during the conversation that outlets such as MSNBC — Ruhle’s employer — were completely in denial when it came to their coverage of the declining mental acuity of former President Joe Biden and when it came to critical issues for Americans such as inflation and illegal immigration. He then accused them of being too negative in their coverage of Trump and his administration.
“This is where I would push back: when I see this kind of insight and passion being directed at the current administration and the lack of this kind of insight and passion being directed at the previous administration,” Wilson said, according to the New York Post.
“I’m not talking about you, I’m talking about left-leaning news media organizations — were kind of like, ‘La la la la, everything’s fine. Look, the economy is great, la la la, immigration’s not that much of a problem,’ and really being Cleopatra, queen of denial,” the actor added.
Ruhle responded by claiming that the president, along with Musk, owner of X, are the ones who are to blame for the public’s loss of trust in the media. Wow. Just wow. This is exactly the kind of denial that Wilson just pointed out. Ruhle is blind; she can’t even see that she’s fallen victim to this way of thinking.
“Losing that trust is not by accident, it’s by design. If you remember when President Trump was running the first time, Steve Bannon once said, ‘The goal is to blow the whole thing up,’” the host of “The 11th Hour” said during the interview. “The news media is, in my opinion, the last line of defense of holding power accountable.”
Media outlets are the ones responsible for the public losing all trust in them as journalistic institutions and bastions of the unbiased truth. Consistently, outlets like CNN and MSNBC have told lie after lie about Trump and many of the folks he picked for his cabinet.
They’ve been caught in these untruths a million times and simply refuse to admit it. And the cover-up of Biden’s mental decline was simply the straw that broke the camel’s back. It became clear at that moment the media was in the pocket for Democrats.
