India has now proposed zero tariffs on steel, auto components, and pharmaceuticals on a reciprocal basis up to a specified quantity of imports in trade with the U.S., once again proving that President Donald Trump is an economic genius and knows exactly what he’s doing. And there’s little doubt the left is fuming inside because they know this to be true, but must continue to push false narratives about our commander-in-chief to please their overlords.

Once this threshold is met, imported industrial goods would then go back to normal levels of duties, those close to the situation said, under the condition of anonymity.

The offer was made by several Indian trade officials visiting our nation’s capital in late April to move negotiations further along concerning a bilateral trade deal, which is expected by fall 2025.

“The two nations are prioritizing certain sectors to strike an early trade deal before the end of the 90-day pause on US President Donald Trump’s tit-for-tat tariffs, the people said,” Economic Times of India reported.

Amid a contraction in the US economy, Trump suggested Sunday that some trade deals could be sealed as soon as this week, offering the prospect of relief for trading partners seeking to avoid higher US import duties. Asian economies, including South Korea, Japan and India are among the nations leading the race for reaching interim deals with his administration.

An email to India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry was not immediately answered.  Washington has also asked India to resolve its concerns around Quality Control Orders, which it considers a non-tariff trade barrier for its exports, the people said. The mandatory quality standards, which lay down benchmarks that both local and foreign manufacturers must meet before selling their goods in India, have been criticized for being non-transparent and unfair.
India also revealed they’re willing to reconsider the current QCOs in both the medical devices and chemicals sectors, and has also made an offer to sign a mutual recognition agreement with the U.S., which would provide both countries to accept one another’s regulatory standards and practices.
At the time of this writing, it has not been made clear if this set of proposals will be part of the final deal. A glance at the data shows that just 14 QCOs before 2014 have now gone up to over 140 since 2017.
The big takeaway here is that the tariffs Trump imposed on other countries are working, despite what left-wing media wants you to believe. Just hang in there. Big results that will benefit the American people are on the way.
