Former First Lady Michelle Obama and her husband, former President Barack Obama, have been the subject of a whole lot of rumors concerning the demise of their marriage over the course of the last few months. Claims have been further exacerbated by the avoidance of the issue in public.
Well, during an appearance on the Wild Card with Rachel Martin podcast — hosted by NPR — Obama finally talked about the divorce rumors, setting the record straight. Then again, she’s a liberal, so she could be lying through her teeth.
“Even in this phase in our lives, when Barack and I say something right or wrong, it does get covered. You know, the fact that people don’t see me going out on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage. I mean, it’s sort of…” Michelle Obama stated during the interview.
“It’s the apocalypse. It’s like, OK, so we don’t Instagram every minute of our lives. We are 60. We’re 60, y’all. We just, you just are not gonna know what we’re doing every minute of the day, you know?” Michelle Obama further elaborated, according to The Conservative Brief.
Part of what keeps the flames of these rumors burning bright is the numerous sightings of Michelle without her husband, the latest of which happened just a week ago. The former First Lady was spotted on vacation in Mallorca with the couple’s two daughters, Malia and Sasha. They were photographed having dinner at the Lobster Club restaurant sans Barack.
I think it’s easy to see why so many people think the former first couple’s relationship might be on the rocks.

Michelle looked stylish in a colorful printed dress and hoop earrings, while Sasha, 24, wore an off-the-shoulder white t-shirt and a flowy brown skirt. Malia, 26, chose a navy blue polka dot top and denim mini skirt for the family lunch. Joining them were James Costos, former U.S. ambassador to Spain, and his partner Michael Smith, the Obamas’ longtime interior designer who famously redesigned the Oval Office in 2010.
The relaxed, glamorous lunch took place at an exclusive seaside venue complete with live music, an infinity pool, and sweeping Mediterranean views. Barack was once again missing from the family getaway, just as he has been absent from several other major public events in recent months, including President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and even President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Michelle tried to downplay growing rumors of marital trouble last month during an appearance on “The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett.”
“That’s not who we are,” the former first lady insisted. “And I know that about him. He knows that about me.” She also stressed that the couple, married for 32 years, would never “quit” on their marriage.
During a recent episode of her podcast, which she hosts along with her brother, Michelle dropped a breezy, non-nonchalant comment about being single, which was like pouring a can of gasoline on a fire already raging out of control.
She and her brother, Craig Robinson had Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky on the program where it seemed Michelle dropped clues she was personally interested in him.
“You know, I have to say, Brian, if I’m a single girl out there and I find out that Brian Chesky is single and I could like stay in his house -” she started before her brother butted into the conversation.
“Here she goes, right to the relationship!” Robinson commented. “Brian, you don’t have to feel pressure.”
Chesky then revealed the Obamas have tried to set him up before, which led to Michelle saying, strangely, that she was “very invested in Brian’s love life.”
Weird, right?
“The unusual exchange comes amid persistent speculation about the state of Michelle and Barack Obama’s marriage—fueled in part by the former First Lady’s notable absences from both President Donald Trump’s inauguration and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter,” the report said.
