Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) opened up about the disconcerting lack of files that have been released related to infamous pedophile and human trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, which we were all expecting to be made known to the public. After all, President Donald Trump promised the most transparent administration in American history while campaigning in 2024.
Attorney General Pam Bondi is getting raked over the coals — and rightfully so — from certain parts of Trump’s base for saying that there is no Epstein client list, despite comments made in February that the list was sitting on her desk, waiting for her to comb through it. What she ended up doing was releasing documents to conservative influencers that had already been made public.
No further documents have been released, which has created a lot of confusion among Trump supporters, along with more than a touch of disappointment. Things took a turn for the worse earlier in the week when the Justice Department put out a memorandum saying that Epstein really did commit suicide in his cell and confirmed there is no client list.

The memo had angered some sections of the Trump base, who believed that the list would be released. Others have questioned whether the list ever existed in the first place. Rep. Burchett has taken a third position in believing that any files documenting those involved in Epstein’s sex crimes was likely destroyed by the previous administration.
“I think the files existed at one time. I think they were destroyed in the previous administration. And I think if they’d ever had anything on Trump, it would have been out day one under the Biden Administration,” Burchett said to NewsNation. “And I don’t, I think there’s some very prominent people. “There’s Hollywood people, but I think there’s world leaders too. And would it have caused economic disruption around the globe? Maybe, but I don’t really care.”
The congressman was then asked whether it is possible that many of the names on the supposed list did not participate in Epstein’s crimes but would be blamed anyway through guilt by association.
“What’s Ms. Maxwell doing in jail? What did she do? Where is that, you know, who did she provide? Whatever she did, why is she in jail? You know, that’s, that’s got to be a question that should be asked at some point. But again, under the previous administration, we’re not going to get that,” Burchett replied. “Dead men tell no tales. He’s dead.”
Let’s be honest for a moment. If Epstein and Maxwell were engaging in human trafficking, then someone had to be making purchases, right? And I have little doubt that if this sick and twisted couple kept flight logs, they covered their backsides with a client list too.
He went on to reiterate his belief that any incriminating information was likely destroyed by the Biden Administration, adding that Attorney General Bondi likely got ahead of herself by over-promising. “You know, so I just I just don’t think, I think they all got out there, got a little excited, and I don’t think they exist. And that’s that’s my current thinking.”
All the American people want is for those who have been doing harm to children to pay for their crimes. To be held accountable for their wickedness. President Trump promised to do that. And now, it appears, that promise isn’t being kept.
Let’s hope that changes sooner rather than later.
