Former President Joe Biden’s chief of staff Ron Klain spoke with House investigators, revealing that twice-failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spoke with him about whether Biden would still be politically viable “by 2024.”
Klain sat down with staff members of the House Oversight Committee for a total of five hours on Thursday. The conversation was part of Committee Chairman James Comer’s (R-KY) investigation into whether top aides of the former president hid signs of his cognitive decline.
A source who is close to the situation told Fox News that Klain was sold that Biden was mentally astute enough to serve another term and wasn’t too old to campaign for the White House. However, Clinton and former Biden national security adviser Jake Sullivan “approached Ron Klain stating they believed Joe Biden was not politically viable” several months before he was pressured to drop his campaign in July 2024.
Sullivan told Klain he believed Biden “was less effective in 2024 compared to 2022.”
Check out the details from Fox:
It’s not immediately clear if Biden’s mental acuity was the reasoning for their doubts, nor if they made the case to Klain together or separately. But it’s a significant indictment coming from top national Democrats of Biden in general, long before concerns about his fitness for office within the party were made public knowledge.
Adrienne Watson, a representative for Sullivan, denied the account in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“Jake did not have a conversation with Ron about Joe Biden running for president before the debate,” Watson claims. She followed that up with, “We don’t think this is what Ron Said. Your sources are wrong.”
Which is exactly what you’d expect someone who said something to Klain and is trying to cover their own backside to say.
Sullivan had been a top aide to both Biden and Clinton, having served as the latter’s senior policy advisor during her 2016 campaign. Klain, who served as White House chief of staff for the first half of Biden’s term, conceded that the then-president was less energetic and more forgetful, though he defended his “acuity to govern,” the source said.
“Mr. Klain stated that President Biden often confused names and proper nouns, and it got worse over time,” the source elaborated in the interview. Klain also stated he had no reason to doubt President Trump’s mental acuity either. When Klain appeared out of the committee room, he remained silent and said nothing to members of the media.
Clearly, Democrats knew very well that Biden was unfit for duty and shouldn’t be on the campaign trail. He they allowed him to do just that for months on end, making a total fool of himself during the now infamous debate that ended his political career. Shame, shame.
