During a recent segment aired on leftist media network MSNBC, Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) caused quite a stir when she admitted that “half” of her family living in the U.S. are here illegally. Yeah, that’s not something you want to mention publicly unless you want your loved ones to get booted back home. Come to think of it, that’s exactly what we want, so let’s get it done, ICE!
Calls for her deportation have increased since Ramirez made the revelation, along with demands that she be investigated over her national loyalty. Much of the controversy is rooted in the fact that she made comments earlier during a Mexico City summit admitting, she’s a “proud Guatemalan before I’m an American.”
The comments have drawn a number of rebukes from folks around the country. The Department of Homeland Security even responded to the comments.

Here’s more on those initial comments from Newsweek:
A clip of her speaking went viral on social media, sparking backlash from Republicans and conservative commentators, some of whom called for her to be deported or removed from Congress. Republican Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee wrote on X: “Denaturalize, deport, and kick her off Homeland Committee. We know where her allegiances lie.”
The official X account for the Department of Homeland Security also weighed in, responding to the video with a quote from former President Theodore Roosevelt about Americans needing allegiance to the United States and calling for the condemnation of any other loyalties.
“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism…Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance,” the post went on to say.
In a statement given to Newsweek last week, White House spokeswoman Liz Huston weighed in on Ramirez’s comments, saying, “These Democrats’ comments are despicable and underscore their commitment to putting Americans last. In stark contrast, President Trump is working tirelessly to secure peace deals, deport illegal alien criminals, and advance America’s interests at home and abroad.”
Unsurprisingly, Ramirez is not a fan of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies and has been a strong advocate of stripping ICE of its funding. She’s gone so far as to describe the current administration as “fascist,” a word that none of these radicals can seemingly define.
It’s time for these investigations. Her loyalty to her country of origin could result in national security risks.
