On Thursday, Rep. Jim Jordan grilled Attorney General Merrick Garland over his controversial policy to target parents who oppose critical race theory at school board meetings across the country.
Garland wants these parents banned from meetings because he falsely claims that they are “threatening” board members. However, Garland has absolutely zero evidence for this.
In fact, his only “source” is a simple letter from the National School Board Association. In response, Jordan scorched him.
“First sentence in your memo — the very first sentence you said, in recent months there’s been a disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, threats of violence,” Jordan said. “When did you first review that data showing this so-called disturbing uptick?,” he added.
“So I read the letter and we have been seeing over time threat —”, Garland responded before Jordan interrupted.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I didn’t ask you — so you read the letter — that’s — that’s your source?,” Jordan exclaimed.

“So, let me be clear, this is not a prosecution or an investigation,” Garland responded, trying to avoid the question.
“Is there some studies, some efforts, some investigations someone did that said, there’s been a disturbing uptake, or you just take the words of The National School Board Association?”
Garland then tried to justify his stance with vague nonsense.
“The National School Board Association, which represents thousands of school boards and school board members says that there are these kind of threats, when we read in the newspapers reports of threats of violence, when that is in the context of threats of violence,“ he said.

“The attorneys general of 17 U.S. states have formed a coalition denouncing the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI for attempting to “chill lawful dissent by parents voiced during local school board meetings.”
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita and 16 other state chief legal officers signed a letter to President Joe Biden on Monday, blasting the president over an October 4 DOJ memo directing the FBI to investigate and potentially crack down on “a disturbing spike in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence” at local school board meetings. Rokita’s letter was cosigned by the attorneys general of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.”
