Whomever winds up following in the footsteps of Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) will have some big shoes to fill. The second largest state in the nation has many troubles, including, obviously, illegal immigration.
Far-left radical Beto O’Rourke has tossed his hat in the ring, despite recently failed runs for senator and president.
However, Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, who had toyed with the thought of running for a little while, is declaring that he is out.

Actor Matthew McConaughey announced on Sunday that he will not run to be the next governor of Texas, a decision that came despite a push from left-wing media for the actor to challenge Republican Governor Greg Abbott.
McConaughey, 52, had previously called for law-abiding citizens to “take one for the team” and give up some of their Second Amendment rights, and he had praised far-left Democrat Beto O’Rourke, calling him a “good man.” McConaughey also said that he had a problem with a recent Texas law that protects unborn babies.
While McConaughey isn’t a hardcore liberal, he’s certainly no hardened conservative. Therefore, Texans should be more than just alright, alright, alright with this announcement.
In 2018, actor Matthew McConaughey marched with the far-left March For Our Lives group where he called on law-abiding gun owners to “take one for the team” and give up some of their gun rights.
