It took less than two days for a Chicago jury to render their unanimous decision in finding former Empire actor Jussie Smollett guilty. On Thursday, Smollett was found guilty on five charges of staging a hate crime and lying to police.
The swift decision by the jury stands in stark contrast to how WOKE politicians, Hollywood celebrities, and the mainstream media rushed to Smollett’s defense only hours after the 39-year old actor claimed he was viciously assaulted by two white Trump supporters shouting racist and homophobic slurs.
Rather than allow investigators the time needed to probe the facts, self serving politicians along with frenzied leftists within the media rushed to judgment.
Among those self-serving politicians was Joe Biden, who at the time was preparing for a presidential run against then President Trump. Smollett had accused two Trump supporters of viciously assaulting him because he was a gay black man.
“What happened today to @JussieSmollett must never be tolerated in this country,” sleepy Joe tweeted in January of 2019. “We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie.”

Of course there were others pushing the anti-Trump narrative. Vice-President Kamala Harris also didn’t allow the facts to play out. After apparently seeing Smollet casually walking around his apartment after the alleged attack with a noose dangling from his neck, Harris allegedly rushed to her Twitter account to voice her solidarity with Smollet, posting that it was a “modern day lynching.”
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker also chimed in. “The vicious attack on actor Jussie Smollett was an attempted modern-day lynching. I’m glad he’s safe,” he tweeted. “To those in Congress who don’t feel the urgency to pass our Anti-Lynching bill designating lynching as a federal hate crime– I urge you to pay attention.”
The rush to judgment among WOKE Democratic lawmakers before the facts were actually in, is of course dangerous. Smollet is merely a microcosm of where we are today as a society, where advancing a political narrative is more important than actual facts.
Fortunately, the jury system still works. As was evident in the Kyle Rittenhouse case, along with this verdict, Smollett was found guilty on 5 out of 6 charges of purposely perpetrating a hate crime hoax for the sole reason of advancing his acting career.

Smollett is found guilty on all 5 counts. Sentencing comes next. It is good to know that even in Chicago, the jury is not blind to the fact that Smollett tried to pull a fast one on them.

He was found guilty of lying to police officers and investigators multiple times for telling them he was a victim of a hate crime. On another occasion, Smollett told a detective he was a battery victim, and then again when telling another police officer the same thing.
Following the guilty verdict, special prosecutor Dan Webb addressed the media, along with his message to the jury before deliberation, that Smollett “faked a hate crime and then lied to the police about it and then compounded his crimes by lying to the jury during the course of this trial and insulting their intelligence.” The prosecutor added, “With the resounding verdict we just received from this jury after one day of deliberations in which they found Mr. Smollett guilty on virtually all charges of doing exactly what we said he did – reporting a fake crime to the Chicago Police Department as a real crime. That verdict was a resounding message by the jury that, in fact, Mr. Smollett did exactly what we said he did.”
Webb also reminded the media, along with the public, how much money and man power Smollett’s hoax cost the city of Chicago. “26 Chicago police officers spent 3000 hours of time, costing the city well over $100,000 for a fake crime that never occurred.” Webb went on to add, “And, by the way, a fake crime that denigrates what a real hate crime is. And to use these meanings and symbols that are so abhorrent in our society it’s clear why the police would take it seriously. And they did.”
