Have you ever broke anything and thought that it was too much of a hassle or just too expensive to fix? I think many of us have been there. Your vacuum breaks down. Now you have to find a box that will fit the giant contraption and pay to get it shipped out to the manufacturer, which isn’t cheap. From there, you wait, for God knows how long, for them to fix it and have them ship it back to you on your dime. By this time months have gone by and the dust and dog hair has accumulated so much that you could make several pillows with it. So, instead of waiting for all of that to happen, you toss out the old and broken and buy a new vacuum.
This is what happened to one man who owned a Tesla car. After several error codes have accumulated, the owner brought the vehicle in to have a diagnostic test done. One would expect a couple of thousand dollars at the most. This was not the case for Tuomas Katainen from Finland. He received a whopping quote of around 20,000 Euros, which is just over $22,000 US dollars!
Why so much? That’s the cost of a whole new battery pack for a Tesla car! According to the video on YouTube, there was no guarantee that it would even work if they replaced the battery. So, the owner decided to blow it up.
Yes, you read that right. He called up Pommi-Henkka to see if they would be willing to blow up his 2013 Tesla model S. They excitedly said that they would do it for him.
From the Daily Wire:
To carry out his master plan, Katainen enlisted the help of YouTuber Pommijätkät, which roughly translates to “Bomb Dudes,” according to Google Translate. (Whether that’s an accurate translation or not, it seems appropriate considering Pommijätkät likes to make things explode).
While blowing up a car with dynamite may sound fun, it’s not an easy task. Katainen and Pommijätkät set up the operation in a quarry at Jaala, a small rural town in Southern Finland. The group had to consider factors like the explosive’s huge pressure wave and the direction the blast would go in order to ensure safety.
Elon Musk actually called the guys and said that he would like to take a ride with the Tesla. A dummy with Elon Musk’s face pictured on it was dropped by helicopter. After settling the Elon Musk dummy in the driver seat, they prepared the car for annihilation.
Watch the video below. You may need the subtitles on because it’s not in English.
They used over 30 kg (roughly 66 pounds) of dynamite to obliterate the car. The slow motion video from the different angles is quite impressive. There was nothing left, just bits and pieces of the once nice car. May it rest in pieces.
